The Revived Art of Fashion Illustration

Posted by on

Fashion illustration was almost thought to be a lost art form. The steady rise of digital photography was beginning to take fashion illustrators’ place in major fashion houses and magazines.

This skillful ability to wield a pen or brush in such a way that transforms inanimate garments and accessories into animate products was declining -- until now.

Illustrators are now coming out of the shadows and being recognized for their talent by the masses all thanks to social media. The accession of Instagram and Pinterest has allowed modern day illustrators to showcase their work through digital curation. Their ability to exhibit their work in real time gives these talented yet undiscovered fashion illustrators a voice.

The buzz about the new-age fashion illustrator crowd was noticed by major players, such as the New York Times, Vanity Fair, Vogue and The Cut along with other blogs like Man Repeller, just to name a few.

With so many venues for sharing their illustrations, these artists are being recognized by brands the way that fashion bloggers are.

Being a fashion design house ourselves, we’d like to give a head nod to our fashion peers -- here’s a list of our personal favorites.
